Carpet/Vinyl Flooring

The following information is a checklist of items to prepare your home for your new carpet. Proper preparation helps the install go smoothly and efficiently. Our professional mechanics appreciate your cooperation as well. We truly thank you for your business. We will make every effort to ensure that you floor covering installation goes as expected to give you a beautiful home.

WARRANTY: Your IBY installed floor covering has a One Year installation Guarantee as well as a manufacturer's warranty covering materials. Please make sure these warranties are explained and given to you.

PREPARATION: before installation, please empty closets, remove all items form underneath the beds, remove bedcovering, fragile lamps, knickknacks, glassware from china cabinets, books from bookcases, any small furniture you can move (large items will be removed by the installer) and pictures on the walls. Disconnect all computers, stereos, TV's, VCR equipment or any other electrical equipment. Inform the measurer of all wires located under the carpet such as alarm wires of systems. Check for cable wire connections under existing floor covering. (Cable company may have to remove and or disconnect.)

EXCESSIVE FURNITURE: Charges may apply to areas with extreme amounts of furniture (i.e. file cabinets, heavy equipment, storage boxes, wall units, big screen TV's, sleet sofas, four pastor beds, armoires, etc,.) We do not remove antiques, grandfather clocks, gas stoves, refrigerators with front door dispensers, aquariums waterbed, pianos or heavy pool tables. (Many of these items need to be professionally moved.)

DOORS: If you have purchased a better (or taller pile height) carpet with perhaps thicker pad, you may need to arrange to have your doors cut. Depending on the area or installer, this service may not be provided. Check your entry doors, closets, or thresholds that may be affected.

SEAMS: Seams are not completely invisible and will be less noticeable with different types of carpet. Please discuss seam locations with your estimator. If you choose to have less seams, sometimes this will effect the amount of carpet you need, but will add satisfaction and professionalism to the job.

SECURED PREMISES: (Condominiums & Apartments). Please check with your building management for parking and delivery times for your installation (i.e. elevators, service entrances front desk procedures.)

UNFORESEEN CHARGES: May apply to installations when the take up and removal of carpet are done. Water damage, urine soaked carpets, floors with structural damage, asbestos floors etc. are not always detected until the installation process has begun. Please advise the estimator if this is a possibility.

PROPER POWER: Make sure that adequate power, light ventilation and heat be available 24 hours prior to and during the installation (this could be a concern on new home construction or an unoccupied structure.)

REMOVAL OF EXISTING FLOOR COVERING: If you have celected to not have the mechanics remove your existing carpet, you must have this done prior to the carpet installation. Expect minor touch up painting after installation. Normal installation methods may lightly scull existing baseboards or walls. Our installers will use extreme care to minimize this.

CLEAN-UP: The installers will make a post-installation inspection with you to guarantee your complete satisfaction. They will also clean and vacuum after the installation. Surplus materials will be placed on your premises, where you request (suggestion: have your carpet bound, they make great entry  to protect your new carpet from soiling.) Old carpet and pad will not be removed unless paid for.
